Título: IT Systems Administrator
General Summary:
A network administrator has a solid understanding of network protocols, standards, architectures, administration tools and software; is responsible for managing the daily operations of a network, such as configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and other network devices. Monitors the network performance, security, and availability, and implements backup and recovery procedures.
This role requires good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. A network administrator typically has a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, and may also have certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft MCSA.
Essential Responsibilities:
Network and Security Monitoring:
• Assist with implementation of monitoring tools and confirming all devices are being monitored
• Create dashboards to show network performance
• Monitor network related security alerts and escalate as necessary
• Analyze network performance to identify bottlenecks and single points of failure to improve performance
• Conduct network security audits and support vulnerability assessments
Troubleshooting:
• Track and investigate alerts created from network monitoring tools
• Monitor ticket system for network incidents that Help Desk cannot resolve - Escalate to L3 Network Team members as necessary for job shadowing and learning how to resolve common incidents
• Document troubleshooting steps performed and begin building Knowledge Base (KB) in ticketing system
• Diagnose and resolve complex network issues
• Recommend and support implementation of solutions to prevent recurring problems
User Support:
• Monitor the ticket system for network requests that the Help Desk cannot resolve; escalate to L3 Systems Team members as necessary for job shadowing and learning how to complete common requests.
• Provide technical support for end-user requests.
• Create new servers as requested.
• Plan and execute server upgrades and migrations.
Configurations and Documentation:
• Maintain documentation of configuration changes and procedures.
• Track and manage network hardware and software inventory.
• Support the development and enforcement of network policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Level of Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
Entry-level server certification, CompTIA Network+ or equivalent is preferred.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in a similar position.
Minimum Level of Knowledge and Skills Required:
Preferred Technical Skills:
• Basic understanding of network protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
• Familiarity with networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls
• Basic troubleshooting skills for network connectivity issues
• Knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools
